Full House is set to get even more packed when it heads back to TV.

The popular sitcom has been picked up for a sequel, Fuller House, by Netflix and will initially run for 13 episodes with many of the cast from first time round returning, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse, will be back as a guest star – something he announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and now Netflix has confirmed that the rebooted series is going ahead.

The show will also welcome back Candace Cameron-Bure as DJ, her on-screen younger sister Stephanie played by Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber, who played DJ’s best friend, Kimmy Gibbler.

Apparently, talks are under way to try to sign up Bob Saget, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin to reprise their roles.

The new series sees DJ Tanner-Fuller as a pregnant, recently-widowed vet living in San Francisco, where Stephanie, single mother Kimmy and her daughter will move in to help her take care of her two sons and soon-to-arrive baby.

Full House first ran from 1987 to 1995 and is one of a number of old shows being brought back – The X Files was also picked up by Fox recently for six new episodes.

Creator of Full House Jeff Franklin and executive producers Robert L Boyett and Thomas L Miller said in a joint statement: “The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honour and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today.

“The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.”
