Ioan Gruffudd has revealed his daughter became smitten by his San Andreas co-star, Alexandra Daddario.

The Welsh star and his wife Alice Evans admitted their five-year-old child Ella Betsi even bowed down to the 29-year-old actress.

Alice said: “Our daughter fell so much in love with her that when Ella was leaving, she went down on her hands and knees and started fanning. She was absolutely besotted.”

Ioan added: “She thought she was a princess.”

Ioan plays Daniel Riddick in the disaster drama, which stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as Los Angeles Fire Department rescue-helicopter pilot trying to rescue his daughter, played by Alexandra.

The actor teased: “I think the trailer says it all really. It’s going to be a roller-coaster ride from the very beginning.

“You’ve got one of the biggest movie stars in the world and nicest men in the world, Dwayne Johnson, as our lead. The CGI is just rather extraordinary and unprecedented. I’m very proud to be part of the film.”

Ioan added of co-star Dwayne: “He’s the gentlest giant you will ever meet. He’s just adorable and has a heart of gold. He’s worked tirelessly to get to the top and his work ethic is extraordinary.”

Kylie Minogue, Carla Gugino, Archie Panjabi and Paul Giamatti also star in San Andreas, which opens in UK cinemas on May 28.
