Poldark star Kyle Soller has revealed he will not be stripping off in the next series of the show.

The American actor, who plays Francis Poldark on the BBC One drama, said he will leave the shirtless scenes to co-star Aidan Turner, who plays his screen brother Ross.

“I thought it would be successful, but I had no idea that it would reach the level of popularity that it has,” he said.

“I mean, I’ve seen that picture of Aidan everywhere, every day – which is a great thing. I mean, come on!”

“There are some other guys who should probably get their shirts off in this show, but I’ll have to think about that as Francis,” he joked.

Kyle, who stars in new film Monsters: Dark Continent, will reprise his role in the second series.

“I hope Francis will be able to gain some self-awareness and learn the beautiful virtue of forgiveness,” he said. “And maybe start drinking some camomile detox tea, instead of all the port, wine and rum.”

The actor added: “I really like him as a character and I really enjoy playing him because he’s his own worst enemy. He lets himself go a bit, and he throws everything out of the window and becomes quite self-destructive.

“There is a liberation in that but there’s also a pain in that. It’s been really enjoyable. I’m so happy and pleased and amazed (with its success).”

Monsters: Dark Continent is in cinemas now.
