Big Brother housemates have been left to survive on rice and chickpeas after they failed their latest shopping task.
The ninth day in the house started as a wake-up call for the housemates, who have been left to adjust to a basic diet, after Chloe Crawford – who has been named The Dark Lord – didn’t get enough of them to leave The Hole during their scary overnight ordeal.
The housemates, who started off the eighth day hungry and without hot water, were told they would have to live a basic lifestyle with no use of appliances and limited rations for the week if they don’t pass the task, which saw them trying to complete challenges in the dark.
Amy Broadbent, Danny Wisker and Eileen Daly took part in the first challenge, where they had to identify the objects showered over them, as they sat in a bath in a pitch black room.
Eileen said: “I won’t panic. I’m really strong. We don’t wanna let anyone down.”
Up first was Eileen, who screamed as an object fell.
“It’s not alive,” she said, before realising it is a shower of teddy bears. “I thought it might be crabs or something.”
Amy was next. “I think it might be worms,” she exclaimed. “They’re all the same size. Bigger than grains of rice. They’re like little maggots… I think it might be maggots! I can’t tell if they’re moving.”
When Big Brother confirmed it was a maggot shower, she shouted: “They’re all in my knickers, you b******s.”
Danny had a shower of rubber gloves, before Amy was showered by lychees.
“It’s like sick. It’s big round balls of something,” she said, adding: “Lychees?! How the f*** would I guess that? I’ve never even seen a lychee.”
Eileen enjoyed a shower of spaghetti and feathers, Amy had buttons over her, and Danny was showered with seaweed and squid.
Cristian MJC and Harriet Jackson had to cross two beams, while carrying three balls, on opposite sides of the room while avoiding obstacles for the second task, which had to be completed within five minutes.
For the final task, Big Brother told Chloe to manipulate at least four of the group to leave The Hole – a room which has been decorated with bloody handprints and broken dolls – after they were told to stay there until sunrise.
Jade-Martina Lynch said: “I’m not staying in a bed on my own,” pulling Nick Henderson into her bed.
Big Brother then tried to scare the housemates – a ghost girl walked in, fake vomit was poured on top of Jack McDermott, while Chloe threw water on some of the group.
Aaron Frew said: “This is the most tortuous thing that anyone’s ever done to me.”
Big Brother later confirmed that the housemates failed the task.
