Iron Maiden fans couldn’t contain their excitement, after the heavy metal band released their new track, Speed Of Light.
The song, written by guitarist Adrian Smith and lead singer Bruce Dickinson, and its accompanying music video, was unleashed on the group’s website, www.ironmaiden.com and YouTube.
The video is an “homage” to four decades of video-gaming juxtaposed alongside Iron Maiden’s visual canon of the past 40 years, centring on their talisman, Eddie, as he travels through space and time to complete his Herculean task.
Speed Of Light is the first single from the group’s upcoming new album, The Book Of Souls.
The double album is their 16th full-length record, which will be released on September 4.
Fans, including former TV judge Nicki Chapman, took to Twitter to show their glee at the new material.
