Coronation Street widower Ken Barlow is still grieving for his beloved wife Deirdre – but that won’t stop a new admirer trying to win his heart.

According to the Sun, the soap stalwart, played by William Roache, will catch the eye of Cathy Matthews’ widowed sister Nessa.

But when the new character, described by the newspaper as a “maneater”, makes her interest in Ken clear, his nearest and dearest are not too impressed.

It is not clear how Ken will respond to Nessa’s advances so soon after Deirdre’s death.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Cathy’s sister sets her sights on Ken very soon after arriving in Weatherfield. Viewers will even see her quizzing his friends in a bid to work out how best to seduce him. She is determined to win him over.

“But fans will have to wait to see if her passion is reciprocated. It is the beginning of a major storyline for Ken Barlow.”

The scenes are set to air on Corrie in September.

Deirdre had an emotional send-off in the soap in July after the death of the actress who played her, Anne Kirkbride, at the start of 2015.
