Taylor Swift has donated 50,000 US dollars (£33,000) to her backing dancer’s 13-month-old nephew who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Dancer Kim “Toshi” Davidson shared an Instagram picture of his nephew Ayden announcing that he was battling the condition.

Within hours, Taylor made the donation on Ayden’s GoFundMe page and wrote: “Baby Ayden, I’m lucky enough to perform with your uncle Toshi on tour.

“All of us are praying for you and your mama and sending so much love your way. Love, Taylor.”

Toshi, a dancer on the Bad Blood singer’s recent 1989 tour, wrote on Instagram that he had just touched down in Toronto when he discovered the 25-year-old’s generous contribution.

“So I get off the plane in Toronto and this is the 1st thing I see…@taylorswift is an angel and My family and I can’t thank her enough… She is such an incredible human being.

“This will help in this time of need… Let’s pray for him to beat this… This unexpected gift is truly a blessing…” he wrote, alongside a photo of the fundraising page.

The GoFundMe page was created with an initial goal of raising 20,000 dollars. Ayden’s family explained that he had been in the ICU for two weeks and was initially misdiagnosed with pneumonia.

The family made the plea for financial help after Ayden’s mother Lindsey lost her job because she was spending time at his bedside.

They are currently awaiting more test results to determine the type of cancer.

Taylor is known for being generous with her cash, and cancer is particularly close to her heart after she announced in April that her mother, Andrea, had been diagnosed.

In June, Taylor made an equal donation to 11-year-old fan Naomi Oakes to cover her medical expenses during her battle with leukaemia.
