Kris Jenner has spoken about guiding her family through hard times, saying they are like a “mini United Nations”.

The matriarch of the Kardashian clan gave an insight into her family life in a segment for CNN Style.

The reality TV star was married to Bruce Jenner before his transition to Caitlyn Jenner, and before that to lawyer Robert Kardashian.

She is mother to sisters Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie and brother Robert.

Kris said: “It’s just so great and brings so much criticism sometimes from people who just don’t understand. Things get crazy or, you know, chaotic. Or, you know, you’re just trying to get it right and everyone makes mistakes. For sure, I’ve probably made a handful of my share.”

The excerpt forms part of a series of features on diversity, commissioned by the Balmain fashion house’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, who is guest editing for CNN Style.

She said she has to balance being a mother and a manager, but added: “When you do a reality show like we do, it’s kind of fair game. And I think that from the very beginning we just decided to let it all hang out, in order to have a great presence on the show.”

According to CNN, the scenes were filmed during a turbulent time for the family, amidst news of Khloe’s estranged husband, basketball star Lamar Odom, being found unconscious in a brothel in Las Vegas.

Lamar has since regained consciousness and is recovering in the Los Angeles area.

She said family has always been her main focus.

“I will drop anything to do something for the kids. That’s personal, way over anything business. They know that that’s just the rule,” she said.

She also spoke about her relationship with God, saying: “You just have to take what comes one day at a time. I’m a firm believer that God has a handle on everything and everything happens for a reason.”
