Hollyoaks has been honoured at the Stonewall Awards, winning the Broadcast of the Decade prize.
The Channel 4 soap was recognised for its contribution to LGBT equality over the past 10 years.
Cast members Kieron Richardson, Ross Adams and Parry Glasspool – who play Ste Hay, Scott Drinkwell and Harry Thompson – joined executive producer Bryan Kirkwood to accept the award.
Over the past decade, Hollyoaks has dealt sensitively with many LGBT issues ranging from the introduction of transgender character Sally St Claire, played by Annie Wallace, last month, to Ste’s diagnosis with HIV.
It was the 10th and final awards ceremony for the LGBT charity and was hosted by actor Sir Ian McKellen at the V&A museum.
Other winners included Dan Gillespie Sells, lead singer of The Feeling, for Entertainer of the Decade, and BBC Two comedy Boy Meets Girl which won the first Trans Media Award for bringing transgender awareness to prime time TV.
