Halle Berry has insisted she’s “OK” after her shock split from husband of two years, Olivier Martinez.
Halle, who shares two-year-old son Maceo with Olivier, broke her silence for the first time at a charity event for the domestic violence organisation Jenesse Centre in LA.
Speaking to Extra, she said: “I’m doing OK, I really am. I keep pushing and I’m really happy to be here.
“Whenever you’re going through anything in life, when you step outside yourself and focus on others, that’s always the best remedy for any situation that you’d rather not be dealing with.”
Extra’s Terri Seymour asked the actress if her seven-year-old daughter Nahla, by model Gabriel Aubry, knew how strong her mother was and she replied, “Oh yeah, you should be in my house!
“Maceo didn’t go trick-or-treating because he has the chicken pox, Nahla was a zombie cheerleader and we had a great (time).
“I was a pirate and Nahla’s like,’You’re a sexy pirate mommy.’ I’m like, ‘What do you know about a sexy pirate?’.”
The 49-year-old only announced her separation from her third husband Olivier in late October.
The couple released a joint statement to US Weekly magazine saying it was “with a heavy heart” they had decided to divorce.
The statement read: “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son.
“We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children’s privacy, as we go through this difficult period.”
Halle was previously married to baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet.
