Former Hollyoaks star Steph Davis has been forced to pull out of I’m A Celebrity because it would be “unsafe” for her to take part.
In a post on her Twitter page, Steph, 22, revealed that she had been signed up to appear in the jungle but a “severe nut allergy” had put an end to the plan.
Steph’s post made her the first confirmed jungle inhabitant, but now ITV bosses will be scrambling (probably not among cockroaches and spiders) to find a replacement.
The actress wished her fellow camp mates good luck and promised it wouldn’t be the end for her, later tweeting that she has her eyes set on a musical career.
Steph was axed from Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks earlier this year. She played Sinead O’Connor for five years, but her contract was terminated in July.
A spokesman for the actress said at the time, “Stephanie’s contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption.”
Although no other names are confirmed, the celebrities rumoured to be entering the jungle later this month include Chris Eubank, Yvette Fielding and Vicky Pattison.
I’m A Celeb… will return to ITV1 at 9pm on November 15.
