Pop singer Sandi Thom has posted a tearful, expletive-filed video after BBC Radio 2 rejected her latest single.

The Scottish musician – best known for her 2006 hit I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) – ranted, “F**k you Radio 2″ after the radio station declined to give her new single any airtime.

“I just heard that Earthquake didn’t make the Radio 2 playlist,” she said in the clip. “I wanted to make this video so people realise how much it hurts because I apparently can do no right.”

Sandi uploaded a video to her Facebook account in which she broke down, saying: “I wrote a song that is pop, and it’s catchy, and it fits their format, and there is no reason why they shouldn’t playlist my music.

“I swear to God they have no idea how much it actually hurts when it’s been years and years to try and gain some kind of respect from these people. Even now after trying my hardest to do something that I thought was perfect for them, they still say no.”

She continued: “This is literally the last thing. I am done with this industry and its bull***t… I am f***ing sick and tired of having to sit on the edge of my seat waiting for these people to come back and tell me their verdict to tell whether this song is going to be a success in this country or not. Because basically without their support it can’t be a success.”

Also slamming Bauer Radio, who had turned her down, she continued: “I’m f***ing sick to death of the bullshit this industry pulls on people like me, and I’ve had enough. I’m done. F**k you Radio 2. F**k you Bauer network, and f**k the lot of you.”

The singer, who is currently six months pregnant, said: “I really don’t care any more,” adding: “I have better things to do with my life and time and this is utter bull***t.”

Yazoo singer Alison Moyet felt her pain – but thought she should have some perspective.

Soul singer and first X Factor winner Steve Brookstein, who has previously posted his own video rant on YouTube after Simon Cowell made negative comments about him, capitalised on the humour of the situation.

Meanwhile, support came from TV presenter Noel Edmonds – who took a fancy to Earthquake and asked to play it on his Positivity Radio network.

Singer and songwriter MNEK was also happy to see her speaking out.

Sandi has received a mixture of support and ridicule online, with some calling her “entitled” and others applauding her for speaking out.

Despite removing the video from Facebook, she has strongly defended her stance:
