The X Factor’s Mason Noise has been voted out of the competition.

The Birmingham singer performed Jealous by Nick Jonas, but received the fewest votes from the public and was automatically eliminated.

When asked how he felt by co-host Caroline Flack, he replied: “Really good.”

He continued: “I’ve loved it. Thank you to everyone who voted and thank you to everyone that didn’t vote.”

He also stated he was “looking forward to doing my thing”.

Mentor Nick Grimshaw said: “Mason’s been such a joy to work with and I’m gutted that he’s going. He’s such a great visionary. He’s exactly the kind of pop star that there should be.”

Simon’s three fellow judges were dressed in the colours of the French flag as the show paid tribute to Paris. Nick was in blue, Rita Ora wore white and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini looked glamorous in red.

The theme was love and heartbreak, with the contestants singing live to win votes from the public.

Here’s how the night unfolded.

The 25-year-old dental receptionist from Essex impressed with We Belong Together by Mariah Carey.

“Rita could give you the phone book and you could sing it,” the former Girls Aloud singer said.

“I love you, but I hate you because I think you are competition,” stated Nick.

However, Simon disagreed. “For the first time, I felt your nerves.”

Louisa Johnson – Girls

The 17-year-old from Essex tackled Let It Go by James Bay to universal acclaim.

“You just took us to those beautiful notes. That was outstanding,” Cheryl stated.

“Absolutely the perfect song choice,” Simon agreed.

Nick said: “That was your best moment to date.”

Anton Stephans – Overs

The backing singer may win an award as the show’s most emotional contestant – he was near tears as he sang One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men.

There were boos from the crowd as Nick said: “It still feels like an act to me, it doesn’t feel real or raw.”

“This is real, there’s nothing fake about me,” the singer insisted.

Nick told him there was no need to be “aggressive” and Anton apologised, saying he “meant no disrespect” to the Radio 1 DJ.

4th Impact – Groups

Filipino sibling group 4th Impact made a big impact with Ain’t No Other Man by Christina Aguilera.

Head judge Simon said it was time to bring out their individual personalities because he didn’t feel as if he knew them.

“It was tight, it was professional!” Rita enthused.

Reggie n Bollie – Groups

There were loud cheers for Ghanaians Reggie n Bollie after their infectious mash-up of Dangerous Love by Fuse ODG and Shut Up And Dance by Walk The Moon.

All the judges said it was fun.

“The vocals were a bit iffy at the beginning, but I think you are going to be in the finals of this competition,” Simon stated.

“I look forward to your performance in this week!” Nick enthused.

Che Chesterman – Boys

It’s hard to believe Che is only 19 thanks to his mature vocals. The teenager’s rendition of Yesterday by The Beatles won a standing ovation.

“You set the bar tonight,” said Rita.

Cheryl agreed: “That was one of the most powerful openings we’ve ever had on this show.”

Special guests Ed Sheeran and Rudimental thrilled with their performance of Lay It All On Me.

The fate of the contestants is now in the public’s hands as another act will leave the competition this week.

The X Factor is next broadcast on Sunday at 8pm on ITV.
