Eamonn Holmes has shared a picture of himself just days after undergoing a double hip replacement.

In the image shared on Facebook, the broadcaster is standing up with the help of crutches in what looks like a hospital setting.

“Post Op Day 3. On my feet,” he wrote on the social network. “Thanks for all your good wishes and support. The fightback has begun.”

Tens of thousands of people have liked the picture, with hundreds also sharing the image.

The 56-year-old also posted the photograph on Twitter, with a different caption.

The ardent Manchester United fan still has his sense of humour it would seem.

Eamonn had both hips replaced on February 4. He has been sharing motivational quotes about his health since then.

The day of his operation, he posted a picture and quote from Muhammad Ali.

“New hips in place,” he wrote: “Now I must make sure they work. This is going to be my motto for Rehab. Bring it on!”

New Hips in place ….. now I must make sure …

The Ali quote reads: “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion’.”

Eamonn is expected to take about 10 weeks off from presenting duties on This Morning to recover.

The Northern Irish host previously said that he had put the operation off “for years” but it had got to the stage where he couldn’t delay it any longer.

Eamonn’s wife, fellow presenter Ruth Langsford, retweeted his Twitter post adding her own encouraging message.
