The estate of music star Prince is far from settled and a Minnesota judge will consider the procedures to determine who stands to inherit.

Prince died at his Minneapolis home in April of an accidental drug overdose, but no will has been found.

The twice-divorced musician’s parents are dead. He had no known children, but he has a sister and at least five half-siblings.

Following news of his death, other people have claimed they are also related.

Special administrator Bremer Trust, overseeing the estate, says it could be worth up to $300 million.

The judge has barred video and audio coverage. Bremer Trust says the potential heirs don’t want to have “their sensitive family histories … broadcast to the world”.

Meanwhile, Prince was celebrated at America’s BET Awards.

The US cable network, which primarily caters to an African-American audience, honoured the late star in a show-long tribute.

The first of many performances was introduced by comedian Dave Chapelle, who said “that literally our hearts were broken” over the death of Prince on April 21.
