Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has said it probably “bugged” Harrison Ford that she lifted the lid on their affair.

The star, who played Princess Leia opposite Harrison as Han Solo in the sci-fi films, revealed earlier this year that they had been a secret item on set, but speaking on The Graham Norton Show she acknowledged that the revelation may have been an unwelcome one for her ex.

She said she had told Harrison she planned to publish her diaries from the time, adding: “He joked about sending for a lawyer, so he was aware of them, and I told him that if there was anything he didn’t like he should let me know. I sent them to him and waited for him to get back to me.

“He is incredibly private and I am sure the whole thing bugged him, but he comes out of it well. I liked him.”

The 60-year-old added that even their main co-star had not known what was going on.

“I promise you no one knew, not even Mark Hamill, and when I told him he was shocked.

“Harrison and I never spoke about it again. I saw him a lot because I became friends with his second wife and I can remember three times when we were all together that I, of course, made an oblique reference to it and he just grunted.

“I do feel guilty – I never thought about it before, but I guess he will be asked about the affair for the rest of his life.”

She added: “I had no idea it would cause such a sensation – 400,000 news sites picked up on it and it became a little embarrassing.

“They made a lot of things up which I now have to talk about – I never said he was bad in bed.”
