Cynthia Nixon has married her partner Christine Marinoni.

The Sex And The City actress and her longtime girlfriend finally tied the knot, three years after getting engaged at a rally to support same-sex marriage in New York.

"On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York," a spokesperson for the 46-year-old actress told People.com.

Cynthia, who is best known for her portrayal of feisty lawyer Miranda Hobbes in the hit TV series, wore a custom-made dress by Carolina Herrera, although no other details were offered.

The couple, who have been together since 2004, have been waiting to marry until it was legal in New York state, which happened last summer.

"I'm enjoying being engaged very much. I don't mind a long engagement, which this one is surely turning out to be," Cynthia said in 2010.

The pair have three children - education activist Christine gave birth to their son Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni in February 2011, while Cynthia has two children from her previous relationship with photographer Danny Mozes.
