Victoria Beckham has apparently decided against a big bash for her 40th birthday.

The Spice Girl-turned-designer will celebrate the milestone on April 17 but wants an intimate dinner with family and close friends rather than a big showbiz party, reported the Daily Mirror.

She has apparently asked two of her best friends, former Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and hairdresser Ken Paves, to arrange a low-key meal at a restaurant near to her home in Los Angeles.

A source said: "It's a dinner party rather than a full-on lavish party because she made it quite clear she wanted something more low-key.

"Ken and Eva are great friends and have taken charge of organising things - and she's got some other lovely friends who live nearby and are coming along."

The guest list will include Posh's family and friends such as Gordon and Tana Ramsay and Simon Fuller and his wife. The Mirror reported that the rest of the Spice Girls aren't attending.

"It's a far cry from the reports of hundreds of friends and celebrities," added the insider.

"She was almost happy to spend the day with only family, but David wanted to mark the occasion and make her feel special."

Husband David apparently has a special gift planned for his wife's big day, with the Mail Online reporting that it's thought he might be splashing out on a diamond bracelet.
