Kit Harington has revealed he cannot wait to cut off his hair once he's completed Game Of Thrones.

The British actor, who has found fame starring as Jon Snow in the fantasy series, admitted he also wants to stay away from period-style roles post-Thrones.

"I told my agent, 'No more swords, no more horses. You [don't want to] get stuck in things. And maybe I can cut my f***ing hair," he told Rolling Stone.

Kit, who graces the front cover of the magazine's latest issue, said he shares some qualities with his alter-ego.

"Snow's a black sheep. The thing that drives both of us is more similar than you might think - he's driven by ambition. I've always been ambitious too," he said, adding: "I'm very ambitious, but how do I balance that with not f***ing other people up around me?"

The 27-year-old, who next stars in Paul WS Anderson's disaster epic drama Pompeii, understands why the character of Jon has won over fans.

"The show started when the economy was very bad. People were looking for a hero trying to make his way through a dark world that they didn't understand. That's Jon Snow," he explained.
