Anyone walking past Reflections hair salon in Thornbury High Street recently would have been very surprised if they’d peeped in - who on earth were those strange looking people and what were they doing to that poor lady in the chair?

No need for alarm it was just members of Thornbury Musical Theatre Group on a photo shoot to publicise the forthcoming pantomime “Rapunzel”. The poor lady being given the “hair-raising” experience is director and scriptwriter Lizzie Lindsell. The glamorous “lady” is Chris Dixon-Lewis (Dame Tatiana Topknot) obviously getting in touch with his feminine side – a far cry from his role as the title character in “Dr jekyll and mr hyde”! Aiding and abetting is the lovely assistant Bob – Gary Kennedy who wrote and directed last year’s pantomime. What a talented lot! Meanwhile poor Rapunzel (Stephanie Griffiths) is trapped in a lofty tower (Thornbury Castle). How will this all pan out? Will handsome Prince Alberto Balsam (Natalie Britton) be able to save the day? No need to wonder, just book tickets and experience a show full of magic and love, fun and romance with lots of lively music, dancing, oh and unfeasibly long hair! Performances are from Wednesday 12th February to Saturday 15th at 7.30 each evening with a matinee at 2.30 on the Saturday including a children’s best hairstyle competition. Tickets are available on line at www.tmtg.org.uk, by ringing Angie on 07516270140, or order and collect in person from R A Bennett and Partners, 6 The Plain, Thornbury. Prices are £12/£10, concessions £10/£8, family ticket £36/£30, group discount for 10 or more. The group promises that Rapunzel’s hair is the only thing that will be let down.!
