A SPARKLING new production of Noël Coward’s comedy, Fallen Angels, starring Jenny Seagrove and Sara Crowe, continues its run at the Theatre Royal Bath until Saturday, March 1.

Directed by Roy Marsden, the cast for this Champagne cork-popping delight also includes Robin Sebastian, Tim Wallers, Philip Battley and Gillian McCafferty.

Noël Coward’s divinely funny classic sees Jenny Seagrove and Sara Crowe star as best friends Julia Sterroll and Jane Banbury. With their passionless husbands away playing golf, a mutual long-ago lover announces his intention to pay Julia and Jane an impromptu visit. All in a fluster, there’s clearly only one thing to do: hit the bottle! Or rather, open the bubbly. As each successive glass of Champagne loosens their tongues, hidden jealousies surface, the claws come out, and all attempts at demure behaviour go out the window. But it’s not until the unexpected early return of their golfing husbands that the women’s evening really hits its frenzied peak.

Jenny Seagrove is one of the UK’s most respected actresses. Her prolific theatre career has seen her play the lead in almost every West End playhouse, with recent credits including: Noël Coward’s Present Laughter and Brief Encounter; as well as Clifford Odets’ The Country Girl with Martin Shaw, which appeared at the Theatre Royal Bath in 2010 ahead of the West End, and Coward’s Volcano, which played Bath in 2012 prior to the West End. Her illustrious career has also included the films Local Hero, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, and starring as Emma Harte in the Emmy Award nominated series A Woman of Substance. She is known to millions of television viewers for her role as barrister Jo Mills in BBC1’s Judge John Deed opposite Martin Shaw, the BAFTA Award-winning legal drama which she starred in for six years.

Sara Crowe’s vast array of film, television and theatre credits range from her role as the first bride in Four Weddings and a Funeral, to BBC’s Born and Bred, and her acclaimed performances in West End productions of Noël Coward plays: Olivier Award nominated for Best Comedy Performance in Hay Fever and Olivier Award winner for Best Supporting Actress in Private Lives. This will be the fifteenth time that Sara has performed in a production at the Theatre Royal Bath; starting with Private Lives alongside Joan Collins in 1990, and more recently in Acorn Antiques: The Musical! and Donkey’s Years, both in 2007, and Absurd Person Singular in 2008.
