THE international hit show New Jersey Nights visits the Theatre Royal Bath from Monday, May 19 to Saturday, May 24 as it returns to the UK as part of a world tour, direct from America.

New Jersey Nights is a celebration of the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, taking audiences on a nostalgic musical journey through the career of one of the biggest-selling groups of all time.

From the backstreet studio in New Jersey where it all began, this vibrant production, with unique stage sets and stylised costumes, includes all of The Four Seasons’s greatest hits, including Sherry, Rag Doll, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man, Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You, Let’s Hang On, Silence is Golden, Oh What A Night, and many more of the group’s best-loved tracks.

This hugely successful show features a ten-strong company of singers and dancers performing with an on stage band. The four lead roles are played by Jonathan Hawkins, William Hazell, Damion Scarcella, and Simon Schofield.

The Four Seasons and their lead singer, Frankie Valli, deserved their place in musical history long before Broadway immortalised them. They worked for nine years and under a range of incarnations before becoming an “overnight success” in the mid-1960s. The group known as the Four Lovers evolved into the Four Seasons in 1960, and the classic line-up was created, with Frankie Valli as the lead singer, Bob Gaudio on keyboards and tenor vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals, and Nick Massi on bass guitar and bass vocals. The Vocal Group Hall of Fame has stated that The Four Seasons was the most popular rock band before the Beatles.

The Seasons achieved their first gold disc in 1962 when their song Sherry – originally called Jackie Baby in honour of the then First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy - rocketed to the top of the American charts. This was quickly followed by their other early hits Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man, Ain’t That A Shame and Rag Doll, all of which featured Frankie Valli’s trademark vocals.

During their prolific career, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons recorded under more than twenty names. They were signed to at least seven different labels and have gone through around thirty-five members over the decades, with Valli himself the only original member to remain constant.
