RAMBERT, Britain’s national dance company, returns to the Theatre Royal Bath from Thursday, October 30 to Saturday, November 1 with an interstellar line-up of dance that includes Christopher Bruce’s Rooster, featuring the iconic music of The Rolling Stones, and a new piece inspired by the science of the cosmos, The Strange Charm of Mother Nature choreographed by Mark Baldwin.

Christopher Bruce’s Rooster pays homage to the swinging sixties in electrifying style. Sharp-suited, snake-hipped men and strong, sassy women perform virtuoso courtship dances set to some of The Rolling Stones’ most famous tunes, including Not Fade Away, Paint It Black, As Tears Go By, Sympathy for the Devil and Little Red Rooster.

One of Britain's leading choreographers, Christopher Bruce’s work is in demand all around the world. He is a former dancer and Artistic Director with Rambert, who first performed Rooster in 1994. The piece quickly became established as a modern classic and a firm audience favourite. Making a return to the UK stage after a 13 year absence, Rooster makes its Theatre Royal Bath debut in Rambert’s 2014 programme.

Rambert Artistic Director Mark Baldwin’s new work, The Strange Charm of Mother Nature, is the latest in his series of dances inspired by science. Following earlier works that brought to life the theories of Einstein and Darwin, The Strange Charm of Mother Nature looks at particle physics and the discovery of the Higgs boson 'God Particle'.

Inspired by a visit to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, The Strange Charm of Mother Nature sees the dancers fizz with the energy of the microscopic particles that created life and the universe. The musical accompaniment includes Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks and a new piece composed by Cheryl Frances-Hoad, all played live by the Rambert Orchestra.

Completing the programme at the Theatre Royal Bath is Lucinda Childs’ Four Elements. Intricate patterns and geometric pathways combine with Gavin Bryars’ hypnotic score and striking backdrops from visual artist Jennifer Bartlett to create an elegant minimalist masterpiece.

Rambert returns to Bath this autumn with a thrilling programme that celebrates everything that the company does best: premiering exciting new dance alongside classic masterpieces, and showcasing world class dancers with inventive choreography and spectacular staging, accompanied by live music performed by the critically acclaimed Rambert Orchestra.
