THE Village Players in Pilning are getting ready to present their annual Christmas show, Sleeping Beauty, a pantomime by Peter Mitcheson, June Stevenson and Anette Ward, at Pilning Village Hall

The Players have given this favourite story some added zest and a contemporary twist; the beautiful princess sleeps for 500 years! What happens to the fairy pupils in the Academy of Bottomgarden? Why are the Prince’s hilarious friends Chester and Harold like the old Court Jester and Herald? What will the medieval family think of a mobile phone and a digital camera?

The Village Players is a small, thriving amateur theatre group based which has been established for more than 30 years and drawing membership from a wide area in South Gloucestershire and beyond. We meet on Wednesday each week at 7 pm at the Village Hall, and members range from young people in their first decade to the more senior in their ninth! The group prides itself on the fact that that many of our younger members have been so inspired by us, and by what they have learnt, they have gone on to a professional study of theatre/performance arts at colleges and universities and to employment in this field. All new members are always very welcome.

Very funny and very different, this story of Sleeping Beauty will keep you enthralled - Oh yes it will! Call our Booking Office now to reserve your seats as they are selling fast.
