BILL Jones - aka The Poet Of Doom- is on a mission: to make merry from misery in the happiest places in the UK.
Bill, described as ‘the most miserable poet in Stroud’, is embarking on a tour to the most up-beat areas in the country.
He says: “I’ve already brought the mood down quite a bit in Stroud with my show, so I think it would be good to spread the misery further afield.”
Bill is starting in Festival town Cheltenham; which is renowned for its ebullient arts scene and lively social life.
He’ll be making his first stop at The Muffin Man, Cheltenham on January 22, where he will be reading entertaining poems about death, despair and loss, excerpts from an appallingly disheartening novel, and updating us on the aftermath of his disastrous love affair with Mavis Wright.
Bill is a stand-up based in Stroud. His one-man show, Graveside Manner, sold out both performances at last year’s Theatre Festival in Stroud and he has recently supported John Hegley at a sell-out gig there.
Well Versed is on at The Muffin Man, Cheltenham on Thursday, January 22 at 7pm. Tickets are £4
