BE prepared for some wicked goings on in Chipping Sodbury this month, as Sodbury Vale Musical Comedy Club present The Witches of Eastwick.

Most famous as the 1987 film starring Jack Nicholson, the story is based around three women - the 'Witches' - Alexandra Spofford (Alison Gurney), Jane Smart (Kathryn Mills), and Sukie Rougemont (Rachel Bosomworth). Frustrated and bored by their mundane lives in the town of Eastwick, a shared longing and desire for "all manner of man in one man" comes to life in the form of a charismatic stranger, a devil-like character, Darryl Van Horne (Matthew Spencer).

Seducing each of the women in turn Darryl teaches them how to further expand the powers locked within, though their new unorthodox lifestyle scandalizes the town. As these powers become more sinister and events spiral out of control, the women come to realise that Darryl's influence is corrupting everyone he comes into contact with and resolve to use their new-found strength to exile him from their lives

This is a funny, exhilarating show with a dark side. Director Jamie Wright has put together this fantastic show with a small, hardworking and enthusiastic cast. It is a spectacle to behold with amazing songs and brilliant bold characters (although rather risqué in places perhaps unsuitable for children!)

Come and visit the little town of Eastwick at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall April 15 to 18 at 7.30pm nightly. Tickets (£10.50) are available from our Box Office on 0333 666 3366 or online www.svmcc.co.uk/boxoffice
