SODBURY Comedy Club's next production coming to Chipping Sodbury Town Hall is The Return to the Forbidden Planet.

The show is based on William Shakespeare's 'The Tempest', set in space with 50's and 60's songs bringing it all to life. Sounds a bit weird, but it works! The play is also a parody of the 1956 sci-fi B movie 'Forbidden Planet' starring Leslie Neilson & Walter Pidgeon.

The plot follows the crew of a routine survey flight under the command of Captain Tempest. The ship gets caught in a meteor shower and gets mysteriously drawn to the planet D'llyria, where they meet mad scientist Doctor Prospero and his daughter Miranda who have been marooned on the planet. It is a tale of love, betrayal, sacrifice, an alien monster, and a stolen formula called the 'X FACTOR'. A wealth of well known songs helps tell this story including Great Balls of Fire, Good Vibrations, Young Girl, and Shake Rattle and Roll.

Rehearsals began in December for this production which is being performed at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall from 27 to 30 April at 7.30pm with a matinee performance on Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £10 but concessions available for group bookings of 10+ on the opening night. Our box office can be contacted on 0333 666 3366 or www.svmcc.co.uk/boxoffice.
