A GROUP of teenagers part of SPYS (Sodbury Players Youth Section) have been awarded a total of 6 awards for their run in the All England One-Act festival with "The Darkness in the Night" - a farce by Rob Hockley, directed by SPYS Leader Lucy Cragg. The short play follows the antics of Dave and his friend Bob who visit a deserted house to perform a ritual to get his apparently deceased girlfriend Lily back from the dead - however she and her friend Kate turn up with some hilarious consequences.

Awards won - Best Youth (Bristol and Avon), Most promising youth (Rhys Jenkins, Bristol), Adjudicators award (Lucy Cragg as Director, Avon), overall winners (Avon, beating youth and adult entries) and adjudicators award (Wessex division Quarter final against 3 adult plays) The SPYS' other entry into the Bristol and Avon One-Act festivals "In Need of Care" also won awards for their set/teamwork and Youth Performance by Chelsea Bird.

Sodbury Players are currently rehearsing "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest" (Chipping Sodbury Town Hall 11th-14th May) and SPYS are rehearsing "Fame" in July. Tickets available at via sodburyplayers.org.uk
