OLD BAG Theatre Company are performing ‘Bazaar and Rummage’ by Sue Townsend, directed by Rebecca Fradley-Stokes, in a mini-tour of village halls which visits Marshfield Church Hall on May 14, 2016 - together with an actual rummage sale, which will be open to the public for purchases!

‘Bazaar and Rummage’ is a funny and moving play about an agoraphobics' support group setting up a jumble sale. Gwenda, an ex-agoraphobic, leads a self-help group of three who have been unable to leave their homes for a variety of reasons. She forces them to help at a local bazaar, enlisting the 'support’ of Fliss, a trainee social-worker. While sorting through the rummage their individual fears erupt – will the experiment help them or make matters worse? Director Rebecca Fradley-Stokes said “This is such a wonderful play exploring a theme that is a lot more common than is probably known. The writing is superb, very clever and witty; and painful in places. It gives an all-female cast the chance to explore some truly interesting characters and their stories. For what seems quite an unassuming play, it really is a roller coaster of emotions.”

Mental health is something of a hot topic, doctors and celebrities are speaking out and making it a more accessible subject, but up until recently and certainly in the early 80’s, when the play is set, it was a massive taboo and not something that was discussed openly. Old Bag Theatre Company are pleased to be able to support the UK’s largest mental health charity Mind with this production.

The performance takes place on Saturday, May 14 at Marshfield Church Hall, starting at 2pm. Tickets £8 / £6 concessions.
