ENJOY a comedy variety night at Lansdown Hall in Stroud on Saturday, February 4.

The Comedy Cabaret not only showcases all sorts of different forms of comedy but involves a whole host of local performers, including headlining act Jonny Fluffypunk, Stroud’s very own stand-up poet.

In this celebration of comedy there’ll be sketches, stand-up, improvisation, poetry, a ukulele band and comic songs.

Helen Wood, the show’s organiser said: “I think early February can be a bit dull and dismal and we’re hoping this show will give audience members a spring in their step when they leave. Improve your laugh-life is the show’s motto.”

The show is a fundraising event and everyone at the Comedy Cabaret is performing for free.

Any funds raised on the night will go towards helping provide affordable training workshops in comic performance in the Stroud area. Many of the performers are graduates of Chris Head’s stand-up and sketch courses that have been running in Stroud since 2014.

“It would be great if some of the people in the audience were tempted to give the developing local comedy performance scene a go themselves,” said Helen.
