A BRAND new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic Fantastic Mr Fox is set to burst onto the Theatre Royal Bath’s stage during the May Half Term Holidays.

With performances running from Tuesday, May 30 to Saturday, June 3 this flagship production for the Roald Dahl centenary celebrations promises a dahlicious theatrical feast with live music, songs and gloriumptious designs.

Boggis, Bunce and Bean, three greedy, smelly, horrid farmers hate the cunning Mr Fox. Mr Fox is smart, clever and rather fantastic, but he doesn’t realise how determined the farmers are to get revenge.

Can he hatch a plan to save his family and friends? Can they outrun the diggers and outsmart the farmers, and can rabbit shut up long enough not to give the game away?

Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox is a juicy tale of greed, pride and the power of friendship. With a talented company of thirteen, a stunning set and a live band on stage, this action-packed family show for anyone over the age of five guarantees a fun holiday treat to remember.

The play, adapted by Sam Holcroft, directed by Maria Aberg, and featuring original music from Doctor Who and Broadchurch’s Arthur Darvill, received its world premiere at Nuffield Theatre in November, ahead of its 2017 UK tour which opened at London’s Lyric Hammersmith in January.

Director Maria Aberg said: “Sam Holcroft's adaptation is incredibly funny and fast - a really witty take on the original with a few new twists and turns. So, while the familiar story from the book remains intact, there are definitely a few surprises in terms of what happens to the Fox family and who joins them on their journey.

"Sam has done a brilliant job in bringing the world of the book to life in a way that feels very vivid and contemporary, with lots of warmth and humour. She's made sure you'll definitely recognise all your favourite characters, but she’s also re-invented them for a new audience, which feels very fresh and exciting.”
