Katherine Jenkins tells Bristol 'I'm the happiest I've been in a long time'

GLOBAL singing sensation Katherine Jenkins raised the roof at Bristol’s Colston Hall on Monday night with her effortless style and girl nextdoor charm.

The soprano cross-over, who has made the headlines recently for her troubled love life, was just as comfortable reaching some seemingly unobtainable high notes as she was chatting with the audience and answering questions.

The 31-year-old looked stunning in a selection of floor-length gowns and said herself she was happier on this tour than she has been in a long time – a reference to her split with TV presenter Gethin Jones just before Christmas. In a seamless two-act show, she displayed her varied talents as she performed musical hits, operatic classics, nostalgic songs including I Could Have Dance All Night, her recent single Break It to my Heart and of course, her two best-known Angel and Time To Say Goodbye.

Katherine was every bit the Welsh girl as she sang one of her childhood favourites, a hymn in Welsh, and had the whole audience swaying with her to Tonight, from the musical West Side Story which she performed with her special guest Nathan Pacheco.

Nathan was equally charming with his quick wit, Rat Pack style and smooth voice but it was his version of Nessum Dorma which really got the crowd going. BAcked by the National Symphony Orchestra, this was a rousing show to inspire and enjoy.

Katherine herself proved the two-hour set was perfect for any age, reading out birthday requests from an eight-year-old girl right up to a pensioner celebrating his 90th birthday in some style.
