| Spring concert for choral group | | 8:00am Tuesday 6th May 2008 | | WYCLIFFE College Choral Society and Orchestra's spring concert takes place on Sunday, May 11 - a performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah. First performed at the Birmingham Festival in 1846, this is one of the most dramatic and popular of all choral works, with an endless flow of memorable melodies. Soloists at the concert are Mary Morgan (soprano), Maria Jagusz (contralto), Iain Macleod-Jones (tenor); and Stephen Foulkes (bass) as Elijah. The orchestra will be led by George Ewart and the conductor is Chris Swain, Wycliffe's director of music. |
