BELLA Hardy and Chris Sherburn will be performing at Prema arts centre, Uley on Friday, May 23 (8pm).

The release of Bella Hardy's 2007 debut solo album marked the arrival of a major new talent in the world of British folk.

She is an acclaimed singer - her voice has been hailed as 'mesmerising' and 'faultless'.

In addition to her unaccompanied ballads, Bella entwines her hypnotic voice with her own fiddle accompaniment to great effect.

Having spent the last ten years refining her craft with bands such as folk supergroup 'The Pack' and York trio 'Ola', Bella now strikes out on her own to deliver unique interpretations of traditional classics alongside self-penned songs.

She takes audiences on a journey through tales of love lost and found, of drownings, hangings, shootings and burnings, of crime and punishment and cruel parents.

She is accompanied for the concert at Prema by concertina player Chris Sherburn from Anglo-Irish band 'Last Night's Fun'.
