Woodland is centre stage for concerts

THE ZUTONS kicked off a series of summer concerts at Westonbirt Arboretum this week - the band will be followed this weekend (Saturday, June 21) by Crowded House; followed by Jools Holland & band on Friday, July 18; and Katherine Jenkins and the National Symphony Orchestra, supported by classical/pop crossover act Blake, on Saturday, July 19.
The Forestry Commission is committed to taking woodlands to new audiences and making them relevant to people in new ways. The 'Forest Tour' is self-sustaining, paying for itself, and providing valuable revenue to plough back into the woodland in a variety of environmental and social projects.

SET in the early 1980s this film is based on the true story of hard drinking womaniser Charlie Wilson, who also had a penchant for coke. He was the liberal Democrat congressman from Texas said to have been totally responsible for organising the biggest undercover operation in the history of the United States. This involved supplying the Afghan Mujahideen with arms during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, the success of which unfortunately was the beginning of a very tricky future for the Afghan nation.
