BARBERSHOP boys The Overtones are bringing a Christmas cracker of a show to Bristol this month.

The five-piece vocal harmony group, famed for their dapper looks and 1950s singing style, will be ready to party as the festivities get underway at the Colston Hall on December 19.

The Overtones – Bristol boy Mike Crawshaw, Mark Franks, Darren Everest, Timmy Matley and Lachie Chapman – were talent spotted whilst practising their harmonies on a tea break as decorators in London.

Since forming in 2010, they have gone on to have a platinum selling debut album, appeared on various television shows and built up a loyal fan base of young and old alike.

Australian-born Lachie told the Gazette he and his band mates considered themselves very lucky boys.

“We are very lucky to be able to do what we are doing,” he said. “The tour so far has been a hoot. It is a proper night out on the town and we are really proud to be able to give our fans a good time.

“Bristol was ready to party last time and we hope it will be again.”

The boys will perform a selection of classic motown hits as well as some modern covers alongside their own hits which include The Longest Time, Gambling Man and their latest single the Loving the Sound, from their second album Higher.

As well as the music, the fivesome have perfected slick dance routines and are well known for their interaction with their adoring fans.

“As long as people keep enjoying our shows we will keep doing them,” added Lachie. “We have a beautiful fan base, they are such lovely people and the show is for the fans. It is their night out.”

He said the past year had been ‘wonderful’ and despite being rushed off their feet, all five of the boys were having a brilliant time.

“We are having the time of our lives,” said Lachie. “Our first album Good Ol Fashioned Love was so well received it surprised everyone, including ourselves.

“We are really focussed on the tour at the moment but we have two weeks off in January and then at some point we will probably start to record a third album.”

The Overtones play the Colston Hall on December 19.
