FOLLOWING a short summer break, Prema Arts Centre, Uley, re-opens its doors soon with a full programme of creative arts from classes to theatre shows, live music to weekend workshops, book clubs to exhibitions.

The first exhibition of the autumn season runs from Saturday, September 8 until Saturday, October 27.featuring cast glass pieces from Fiaz Elson, photographs from James Boosey and nostalgic painted-textiles pieces from Elin Thomas.

Elson's work is created in an organic process using clay, polystyrene, wax and plaster.

Elson said: "Experience shapes and forms who we are - consciously or unconsciously our personalities reveal or keep hidden our many sides: this concept is expressed through the use of curves and angles, space, colour and form."

James Boosey calls his work in this exhibition deconstructing chameleons' - the chameleon uses its camouflage to safeguard against predators, to hide vulnerabilities. This Stroud-based photographer presents a series of portraits that examine the nature of how we, as humans, use camouflage.

Bristol artist Elin Thomas exhibits her range of stunning ellipsis-shaped pieces, inspired by the fabrics of the 1960s and 70s with their striking colour combinations and the modern' textile mix.

She said: "My practice is primarily in the field of painting. The work nevertheless delights in its indistinct status, plundering painting, drawing and craft processes to create playful, hybrids."

Entrance to the gallery is free of charge. Due to the nature of Prema's exhibition spaces, not all work is available for view at all times - call the centre on 01453 860703 before setting off to check availability.
