DRAGON'S Teeth and Other Tales will be presented by Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company at Under the Edge Arts in the Chipping Hall, Wotton-under-Edge on Sunday, March 2 (2pm).
Bristol based Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company uses puppetry, live music and physical theatre to create fabulous shows for the whole family. They are now bringing back the show that sold out for nearly every performance last year. Dragon's Teeth and Other Tales was written and designed by Marc Parrett, puppet maker and puppetry co-ordinator for Travelling Light's memorable shows, Cloudland, Clown and Papa Please Get The Moon For Me.
In this production, audiences are taken to an imaginary world where something funny is happening in a warehouse..- was that a wizard whizzing by, could that suitcase really be a dragon's lair and who's that snuffling and gruffaling' at the bottom of the trunk? Two intrepid workers uncover a world of forgotten stories hidden beneath the boxes and bump into a little princess who's not afraid of anything.
Suki isn't like all the other princesses. They like to pick flowers or draw pictures of flowers.. All Suki wants to do is fight a real, live dragon. Unfortunately there's only one dragon left and he's got truly terrible toothache - does anyone know a good dentist?
Marc has most recently worked with Ramshacklicious (The Road To Nowhere), Bristol Old Vic (We're Going On A Bear Hunt), Green Ginger (Rust) and The Tobacco Factory/Travelling Light (Ugly Duckling). Joining Marc in this production is Maija Nygren who has worked with puppets for several years, both performing with them and making costumes for them. She studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and she has since worked with companies such as: The Puppet Barge, Oily Cart, Green Ginger, Pickled Image and past productions by Stuff & Nonsense.
Dragon's Teeth and Other Tales is a co-production with Salisbury Playhouse - the show lasts approximately 50 minutes and is suitable for ages three and up.
Previous audiences have commented that Stuff and Nonsense is bringing back the art of storytelling, bringing together puppetry, mime and a great deal of imagination.
Earlier in the day (March 2, 10-11.30am) in Wotton-under-Edge, also arranged by Under the Edge Arts, children will have the opportunity of working with one of the puppeteers to create their own puppet show.
