Collapsed rail tour company promises customer refunds

THE owner of Steamy Affairs rail tours company that went bust this week has assured customers from his Gloucestershire rail tour company that the service is unaffected.

Heartland Railway Tours, which is based in Gloucester and runs tours from Cam and Dursley station, is owned by the same director as Steamy Affairs, which went bust this week leaving passengers who have paid for their tours out of pocket.

The director of both companies, Adrian Parcell, who lives near Dursley, told the Gazette that the two companies are run completely separately, however there may be temporary suspensions to the Heartland service over coming weeks.

"It is an unpleasant situation and with Steamy Affairs I had no choice but to close the company because it was completely out of control," said Mr Parcell.

"Heartland Railway Tours should be totally unaffected. If any customers believe they need refunds, now or in the future these can be arranged."

Ask Mr Parcell about the new yach he has bought himself, and has moored in Torquay? And his Heartlands company have cancelled all their March charters too! Why not close all the other charter companies to pay his debts?

That should have said 'Yacht, not yach'!

Just go on MySpace.com and put Adrian Parcell in the search, and see for yourself how honest he is, especially where he has put he is single when in fact he is married! He last logged on MySpace on 02/01/2008, you can see his boat as well!

The telephone lines are answered on work days between 09.00 - 16.30. Lines may be busy so please be patient. The Heartland train for this weekend to the Settle & Carlisle has been cancelled due to lack of bookings, which under the circumstances is not surprising. Full refunds are available for this charter by calling the Heartland Number 0845 607 6395.

Is the relevant? The account was set up the day after New Years day by my wife - who thought it was a good idea, clearly not ! Now for something that is relevant; Both Jo my wife and I along with many others are working extremely hard to resolve matters relative to the Steamy Affairs situation, we have also investigated the issues of personal refunds to Steamy Affairs customers with our accountants. We strongly urge that all customers that due a refund should contact Hazlewoods (01452 634800) who will ensure that any claim is handled correctly. Should there be a shortfall that will not enable some refunds to settled, I have made it clear that I would be prepared to make a personal financial contribution to clear those amounts. I hope that this information is useful and feel sorry and regretful for those ties up in this unpleasant situation.

Adrian,

Perhaps to avoid "confusion" you should update some of your websites. As of 17:47 on 20th March Steamy Affairs website appears to show you are still open for business and taking bookings.

Self defence is essential for those in dificulties.

Good luck resolving the situation by the way, I don't see other posters rushing to start up a rival charter firm just yet although they do seem more interested in your yacht so perhaps criuses are their thing.

Brian Thomas
