Rowe sets record lap in Golden Helmet race

WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE driver Nelson Rowe put on an impressive performance in his 30 year-old car in the Formula Ford Golden Helmet race held on Easter Monday.

He lowered the lap record in his class from his previous best of1:12:518 to 1:12:243, in an exciting race where the overall lap record was broken on seven different occasions.

His Crossle 20F was up against modern cars in the most close-fought race of the day at Castle Combe, and yet he still managed to finish in 7th position.

Yate driver Chris Morris competed in the Castle Combe Saloon Car Championships and finished 24th out of the 38-strong field.

He also finished 10th in his class, in his Suzuki Ignis Sport.
