PREMA, the arts centre in Uley, is offering a number of new workshop sessions this month.
On Saturday, May 10 (7.30-10.30pm), Step up to Salsa offers keen local dancers the chance to join dancing duo Salsa del Sol for a sweltering soiree of summer spirit and luscious Latin flavour'.
Salsa del Sol introduces people to the basic steps; and everyone is welcome, either with a partner or on their own.
On Wednesday, May 28, from 10am to 2pm, children aged between eight and 12 are invited to join Prerna Chandiramani for an experience involving creative cultures of India. Participants can have a go at Bollywood dancing, learn how to count and write their names in Hindi and create rangoli. Rangolis are one of the most popular design forms in India - a way of sand-painting traditionally done on the ground. Prerna will show people how to create these traditional patterns using coloured rice on paper, using fresh flowers and even floating flowers On Thursday, May 29 (10am-4pm) and Friday, May 30 (10am-2pm), Imogen Harvey-Lewis will be working at Prema, presenting a Hard Lines' fused glass workshop for children aged nine and over; and an Incredible Families' animated art session for six to ten year olds.
