Young siblings to switch on Thornbury's Christmas lights with celebrity guest
LUCKY siblings will play masters of ceremony with this year’s celebrity guest at the Thornbury Christmas Lights Switch-On this month.
Isobel Downes, ten, and her brother Louis, eight, will assist top UK kayaker Sam Stephenson as he sets the High Street alight on Tuesday, November 20.
The pair were nominated to join the junior world champion on stage at the Christmas Lights display launch by their generous neighbour who, despite winning the Switch-On Competition, chose to let the youngsters do the honours.
Isobel and Louis attend Crossways Junior School and both play football for Thornbury Town Juniors.
Christmas Lights display organiser George Jackson said: "They are keen on most sport and are therefore very excited at the prospect of meeting a young man who is among the top paddlers in Great Britain."
Together with Sam and Mayor Phyllida Parsloe they will turn on the town’s festive lights at 7pm.
