FRAMPTON Cotterell and Coalpit Heath’s Diamond Jubilee festival committee is considering holding a follow-up event in 2013, it has been announced. Organisers of this year’s hugely successful festival have been approached to put on a similar event next June.

The six-day festival earlier this year featured numerous free event and culminated in the lighting of the village beacon and a fireworks display.

Alison Bray, from the committee, said: “Following the success of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations earlier this year, feedback suggests that many villagers would like another event next year.

“We are delighted with this response and are considering ways to nurture and facilitate such enthusiasm.

“To take any future project forward and to make it even more of a community event, we believe that there needs to be greater involvement from more villagers, community groups and local businesses.”

She added: “We are hoping to establish what level of commitment there is out there and are happy to host a ‘kick off’ meeting early in the New Year at which a new committee can be formed.”
