Pensioner dies in hit and run near Frenchay Hospital

A PENSIONER has died in a hit and run near Frenchay Hospital.

The man, in his seventies, was walking near the Texaco garage on Frenchay Park Road when he was in collision with a vehicle.

It happened shortly after 7am this morning.

The man was taken to Frenchay Hospital but died following the collision. Police said the vehicle did not stop after the accident.

A spokesman said: “The vehicle involved is believed to have damage at the front.

“Anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle leaving the area, or sees a car with recent damage to its front, should contact police on 101.”

Frenchay Park Road remains closed between Beckspool Road and Malmains Drive while emergency services deal with the incident and investigate the circumstances of the collision. Traffic is being diverted along Beckspool Road and Malmains Drive.
