THE HEAVY rain over the Christmas period has left the south of Gloucestershire relatively unscathed so far.
While numerous homes and businesses have suffered from flooding in areas like Cirencester and Tewkesbury, the south of the county has avoided the worst of it.
On Monday, December 24, a woman was stuck in her car when she ran into some floodwater at Saul, near Frampton-on-Severn.
At around 11.45am a fire engine from Stroud Community fire station attended the scene with Watch Commander Adrian Davies in charge of a total crew of five.
The crew confirmed that one female in a private car was stuck in floodwater but she was not injured and they assisted the lady to safety.
The crew spent a total of 25 minutes at the scene.
In another incident on the same day Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a report of a car fire after a road traffic collision involving two vehicles at around 12.50pm in Stinchcombe.
Four fire fighters from Dursley community fire station attended the accident on Taitshill Road and confirmed that there was no fire involved, they made the area safe by disconnecting the battery on one of the vehicles.
The crew spent a total of 40 minutes at the scene.
