Leyhill prisoner on the run
10:20am Wednesday 2nd January 2013 in News By Marion Sauvebois
Sean Cawthray
A PRISONER who absconded from HMP Leyhill before New Year’s Eve is still on the run.
Sean Cawthray, 41, was last seen at 5.30pm on Sunday, December 30. He is thought to have left the prison sometime before 8.30pm.
The absconder has links to Leicestershire and Leeds; it is possible he has travelled from the south west to one of these locations.
He is described as a white man, 5ft 9in to 5ft 11in tall, of medium build with short brown hair and blue eyes.
He was wearing a pair of silver training shoes, cream-coloured combat trousers and a light blue Helly Hansen-type top when he left the open prison.
He may have been wearing either a worker's fluorescent jacket, grey jacket with orange patches or black jacket with a blue patch.
Police are now seeking the public's help to locate Cawthray.
Detective Inspector Dominic Graham, of South Gloucestershire CID, said: "We are committed to locating, returning to custody and charging anyone unlawfully at large. Officers work closely with HMP Leyhill and other police forces to track down absconders promptly and keep any potential risk to the public to a minimum."
Anyone with information regarding Sean Cawthray's whereabouts should contact police on 999. Members of the public are advised not to approach him.
