POLICE investigating criminal damage to a car are appealing for witnesses to a suspected road rage incident at junction nine of the M5 southbound.

Shortly before 8am on Tuesday, January 8, a man driving a black Ford Focus pulled up at the traffic lights at the end of the slip road for junction nine, Tewkesbury.

A car, believed to be a silver Vauxhall, pulled up behind him and the male driver got out of his vehicle and approached the Ford.

He then punched the driver’s side window, causing it to smash, before getting back into his car and driving away.

The driver was described as white, bald, aged in his 40s or 50s, around 5ft 9ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a white shirt with a medium blue check on it.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call Gloucestershire Police by dialling 101 and quoting incident number 154 of January 6.
