Man attacked after withdrawing money from Yate cash machine
5:00pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in News By Alexandra Womack
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after three men tried to steal money from a man who had just used a cash machine in Yate.
The group followed the man along Goose Green Way at 3.30am on Thursday, January 3 and attacked him, leaving the victim with a broken arm and injuries to his face.
It happened after the man had withdrawn money from a cash machine in Brimsham Park.
A police spokesman said the victim managed to prevent his attackers from stealing the money by hiding his wallet.
He said: “After withdrawing the money he was walking along Goose Green Way when he heard a noise behind him. He concealed his wallet.
“But he was then attacked by three men and was knocked to the floor when he was further assaulted before the suspects ran from the scene.
“The victim managed to get home but required medical attention for a broken arm, severe bruising and cuts to his face and head.”
Police have limited information on the assailants. One of the men is described as wearing a red top and another a white or grey top. One of the men also had a push bike.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time who may have information to help their inquiries, especially anyone who may have seen a group of three men in the Yate area at the time of the incident.
