HEAVY snow has fallen across South Gloucestershire overnight, leaving many roads treacherous this morning.

A number of schools are also closed today, Friday, January 18.

Winterbourne and Yate International Academies are shut. St John's Mead in Chipping Sodbury, Broadway Infants and St Mary's Primary School in Yate are also closed.

South Gloucestershire Council's website is currently experiencing technical difficulties and has been unavailable this morning.

The council tweeted: "Our main website is currently experiencing technical difficulties. We are working to restore service with the highest priority."

Wessex Connect and First Bristol have halted all bus services across the district. Flights from Bristol Airport have been delayed.
