At least eight schools closed in the Thornbury area and beyond due to heavy snow

HEAVY snowfall in South Gloucestershire overnight has led to widespread disruption.

At least eight schools are shut today, Friday, January 18.

In Thornbury, Christ the King Primary School and Gillingstool are closed.

Almondsbury Primary School, Tortworth Primary School, St Peter’s Primary School in Pilning, Severn Beach Primary School, St Helen’s in Alveston and Oldbury Primary School are also shut.

Wessex Connect and First Bristol have halted all bus services across the district. Some flights from Bristol Airport have been cancelled.
